New figures released by the Welsh Government show that since 2011, the total number of full-time equivalent staff directly-employed by NHS Wales has increased by over 2,000. The increase in frontline personnel has been supplemented by a decrease in management roles within the NHS.
In Wales we now have more consultants, nurses, midwives, ambulance staff, dental staff scientific and technical staff, GP's and junior doctors than ever before. This is both a great reflection on the benefits of working in the Welsh NHS, and shows what can be achieved when you have a Welsh Labour government that forges a positive and respectful working relationship with our dedicated NHS workers.
The same cannot be said of the situation in England, where the undiplomatic and unsympathetic attitudes espoused by Conservative Government Ministers has contributed heavily to a fourth wave of industrial action from Junior Doctors.
I believe that we need to build on these positive figures for Wales, and if elected one of my priorities will be to continue to push for investment in key frontline services.
