A new survey naming Newport as the best city in Wales to start a business is further evidence of a city on the rise.
The survey by Quality Formations ranked each city in the UK according to various ‘business-friendly’ criteria; including the availability of prime office space, commercial rates, digital connectivity and workforce demographics. In the final league-table of cities, Newport finished ahead of nearest Welsh rivals Cardiff and Swansea, and a host of major cities across the UK including Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Plymouth and Brighton.
This new survey is a great vote of confidence in Newport and is another string to our bow. It illustrates the reason why a growing range of small and medium-sized businesses – including both those with local and national roots – are taking an interest in what we have to offer in Newport.
Newport City Council has played an important role in making Newport a hub for business in Wales. The on-going regeneration with Friars Walk has clearly added to the feel-good factor and it’s been great to see more independent businesses open in recent months. There is no doubt that Newport is a city firmly on the rise.
