The Welsh Government’s Flying Start project has had a positive impact here in Newport. Flying Start is a comprehensive programme designed to improve the life chances of children in less well-off areas. Since its inception, the scheme has supported 37,000 children across Wales.
Flying Start has made a profound and decisive difference to the lives of children and families across Wales, including in Flying Start catchment areas in Newport West. The Welsh Labour Government’s decision to increase the Flying Start budget from £71.1 million to £76.9 million is great news.
It is important that the scheme continues to expand and develop. Early years provision is pivotal to life chances.
