Newport City Council will be signposting residents who want to help to local organisations. One in particular is the Red Cross. They operate here in Newport and have lots of opportunities available. Their community reserve volunteer programme is perfect if you are someone who would naturally want to help during an emergency but don’t have the time to commit all year round www.redcross.org.uk

“Players and staff will be contacting all of its elderly supporters and those with a disability, drawing information from records held, to offer the help of the Community team and Dragons’ supporters. We will also be helping those who become house-bound through illness.
They’re making an appeal to Dragons supporters who are in a position to help others to show the famed community ethos – and come forward with their offer to volunteer; whether that be chats on the phone, picking up shopping or some general maintenance tasks.”
