Newport celebrates High Street Week

I was glad to get along to the ‘Try a Trader’ event in Newport last weekend, which coincided with the Welsh Government’s High Street Week. It was great to see the public getting behind the event, and showing support for local independent traders and small businesses.

Newport City Centre is undergoing an exciting period of change, with the Friars Walk development set to open its doors to the public later this year. To coincide with this, small businesses and traders will continue to play a big role in maintaining the unique character of the high street. Many of these traders and shopkeepers tend to go about their business with little fuss, so High Street Week has been a chance for us to give them the recognition they deserve.
