I was delighted to see Bettws-based Angeline Tshiyane win the Welsh Community Coach of the Year award at last week’s Wales Sports Awards.
Angie shows Newport at its best. She is deeply rooted in her community and her enthusiasm and dedication shines through. Angie’s passion is to help those who don’t necessarily get the same opportunities to participate in sport as others.
She has set up various sporting groups for people mainly from Black, Minority and Ethnic backgrounds and is a founder of a local charity. One of her biggest achievements has been to start the Njuzu Community Swimming Group with the help of Newport Live, Newport BME Sports Forum and Sport Wales.
On top of this Angie works night shifts as a care worker in Newport.
This award is a way to recognise the hard work and effort that Angie has put in. She thoroughly deserves it.
