Re-visiting the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015

It’s been over two years since the Welsh Government first introduced a draft law to reduce gender-based violence in Wales.

This is an important opportunity for us to engage with the Assembly to give our views on the success of the legislation and how it can improved in the future.

The National Assembly for Wales’s Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee will be looking to hear your views on the progress of the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015 through post-legislative scrutiny. The consultation will close on the 16th September.

To carry out its work, the Committee want to hear your views on the following issues:

to what extent the approach to tackling violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence is improving as a result of the obligations in the Act?
whether survivors of abuse are beginning to experience better responses from public authorities as a result of the Act, particularly those needing specialist services?
what are the most effective methods of capturing the views and experiences of survivors? Arearrangements in place to capture these experiences, and to what extent is this informationbeing used to help inform the implementation of the Act?
whether the National Adviser has sufficient power and independence from the Welsh Government to ensure implementation of the Act?
to what extent the good practice guide to healthy relationships is successfully influencing the development of a whole school approach to challenging violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence?
