Salvation Army give warm Christmas welcome

The Salvation Army in Newport are hosting a Christmas Day lunch at their church and café on Hill Street, and are encouraging those who are set to be on their own at Christmas to come along for refreshment and conversation anytime between 10am and 3pm on the day.

Most of us look forward to Christmas as a happy time to spend with those closest to us, but for those people with no-one to share it with, it can be a lonely and disheartening time. The Salvation Army are reaching out to those who would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day, demonstrating the compassion for others which is so central to their brilliant work in the community.
