The first Baby Bundle containing essentials for new parents were delivered in Newport.
Baby Bundles are another welcomed way that the Welsh Labour Government are supporting families. As the daughter of a midwife, I know how much early support can mean to new parents. Proud that Welsh Labour continues to prioritise supporting families in a holistic way.
The Welsh Labour Government’s Baby Bundle project, aimed at easing the cost of living for families, has been rolled out in Newport as part of wider efforts to support families across Wales.
Each bundle includes essential items for newborns such as warm clothing, bibs, books, and maternity pads.
Eligible families must either live in a Flying Start area or meet other qualifying criteria.
Midwives will begin to discuss the Baby Bundle registration process with new parents around their 25 week antenatal appointment.
The scheme is inclusive of foster carers, adoptive parents, and families welcoming a child through surrogacy.
It forms part of a wider approach to supporting children and families in Wales, including expanding childcare for two-year-olds and providing free school meals and long-running breakfast clubs to children
