Recently released UK Government Treasury stats show that Wales spends £120 per person more on health and social care than England.
I am proud that the Welsh Labour Government has invested an extra £1.1 billion in the Welsh NHS over the last two years alone – that’s an additional £178 for every person in Wales. Similarly it is important that the Welsh Government has not cut social care funding in the same way that the Conservative-led government in Westminster has slashed social care funding in England by 9% since 2010.
The Treasury’s Country and Regional Analysis for 2014 also shows that expenditure on public services in Wales stands at £9,904 per head – some 11 percent higher than the UK average.
