Taking Action Against Single-Use Vapes in Wales Â
I’m pleased that the Environmental Protection (Single-use Vapes) (Wales) Regulations 2024 have been introduced, marking an important step in tackling litter and plastic pollution across our communities. From 1 June 2025, it is now illegal to sell or give away single-use vapes in Wales. This ban can help protect our streets, reduce waste, and prevent harm to wildlife and the environment. It is another way we are addressing throwaway culture and taking practical action to safeguard our natural surroundings.Â
Now is the time for businesses to speak to suppliers about alternatives, educate staff, inform customers, and plan for the safe disposal of single-use vapes. The Welsh Government has worked closely with the UK Government and other Devolved Governments to ensure the bans are coordinated across the UK, making enforcement consistent and effective. By working together, we can reduce waste, protect nature, and make Wales a cleaner, safer place for everyone.Â
